Katie Locke: Music
Looking Good Today
(Katie Locke)
Verse 1: He saunters down the street
A gleaming specimen of taste
His shiny, chiselled hair
Offsets the city's grimy haze
He heeds the beggar's cry
Throws him the customary dime
Then pushes through the office doors with grace
Marvelling, his partners say,
"My! He's Looking Good Today."
Verse 2: A smattering of raindrops
Marks his son's first soccer match
He makes sure they're all watching
As he loudly cheers and claps
But right when they get home
His son's left shivering, alone
With his wife who's grown accustomed to the draft
He scans her ratty robe and weary face
"Well! Aren't we Looking Good Today."
Verse 3: She's finally had enough
Can't run on hopes long out of gas
And neatly packs her memories
Knowing there's no turning back
He looks on with dismay
Can't let her spoil his resume
He grabs her trembling throat, all fades to black
Later, all the neighbors say,
"Chin up, poor man, you'll be okay"
Yeah, he's still Looking Good Today.
